Third graders at St. Joseph School in Cold Spring collected shoes and purses to benefit the SND mission in Uganda. They even made a promo video to educate their fellow students and faculty about the collection.

The St. Joseph School collection ended October 7, but the Sisters of Notre Dame are still accepting used shoes and purses. The items will go to a company that donates money to the purchase of a water tank at the Sisters of Notre Dame mission in Uganda. The amount of money donated is determined by the amount of used shoes and purses collected. The company then sends the shoes and purses to be up-cycled by artisans and craftspeople in Uganda. These individuals earn an income by selling the items they have made from the donated shoes and purses. It is a win for the mission, for the craftspeople, and our landfills. Thank you to all who have participated so far!
