Sr. Mary Ruth Lubbers, SND, working on her windup.

Sister Mary Ruth Lubbers, SND, will throw out the first pitch at the June 3 Florence Freedom doubleheader. Sister Mary Ruth serves as Vocation Director of the Covington Sisters of Notre Dame and on the executive committee of Serra Club for Vocations, Northern Kentucky. She was selected by her fellow Serra Club members to send in the honorary first pitch as part of a special fundraiser at the Florence Freedom game. In addition to the catcher's mitt, Sr. Mary Ruth's aim is to raise awareness of Serra Club and its mission of promoting vocations in the religious life.
Sr. Mary Ruth said, “I have been practicing with my brother, nephew, and great nephew. They gave me pointers, but when you get out there, you only have one chance. Who knows how it’ll go! It’ll be fun and is for a good cause!”
Tickets for the 5:35 p.m. June 3 doubleheader versus the Traverse City Beach Bums can be purchased at Enter the special offer code “SerraClub” and 60% of the ticket price will go to support the activities of the Serra Club for Vocations, Northern Kentucky.
