Sr. Mary Rita Geoppinger, in red, leading an English lesson in Rome.

Sr. Mary Rita Geoppinger is currently in Rome leading English lessons among her fellow Sisters of Notre Dame. She recently wrote:

"I am having a great time working with six of our sisters (2 Indonesians and 6 Koreans) on the intricacies of the English language. Thanks to Sr. Josefa, their first teacher, now a translator at the Chapter in Germany, each is already fairly proficient in the basics. However, the challenge of communicating constantly and quickly requires a lot of practice, practice, practice...That is what I am doing with them.

My challenge is to find as many creative ways as possible to engage the students in meaningful communication. We talk about "everything under the sun" and have a delightful time doing so.

The students, who are so eager to learn, are improving their skills through song and by teaching each other."
