Sisters of Notre Dame from each of the four U.S. provinces are planning for the future in order to maintain the dedication to Jesus’ mission set forth by sisters of the past.  Through SND Forward, an ongoing assembly of SND members born after 1950, Sisters of Notre Dame share in leadership development, deepening of relationships, and preparation for the 2020 consolidation of the four U.S. provinces. The Immaculate Heart of Mary Province in Covington, KY played host to the most recent SND Forward meeting on June 26-29, 2014.

Over the course of the warm summer weekend in Kentucky, sisters engaged in liturgy, prayer, meetings, and socials all centered around bringing good things for the future. The goal of SND Forward to promote community and bolster dialogue extended beyond the congregation, as young people from outside SND attended the Saturday World Café roundtables to discuss a number of current issues and events as seen through their eyes. CommunityWorks consultants Donna Fyffe and Mark Clarke facilitated further discussions surrounding the book “Heroic Leadership” by Chris Lowney and the inspiring exhortation “The Gospel of Joy” by Pope Francis, which attendees read and reflected on prior to the meeting.
