The Sisters of Notre Dame and the Board of Directors of Notre Dame Academy announce the appointment of Dr. Laura Koehl, Ed.D. as the third President of Notre Dame Academy, effective July 1, 2014.

The search for a new President was necessitated by the end of Sister Mary Lynette Shelton’s three-year term as President. Sister Mary Lynette will begin a sabbatical retreat before entering into discernment for her next ministry.

In January 2014, the NDA Board of Directors formed a committee to confirm the President/Principal model currently used at Notre Dame Academy.  In March 2014, the NDA Board of Directors formed a Presidential Search Committee, which resulted in a recommendation that Dr. Laura Koehl be appointed President.

Dr. Koehl is currently serving as Principal of Notre Dame Academy.  Prior to this, she was a member of the faculty at NDA.  A graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Dr. Koehl has 30 years of educational experience including 25 years in Catholic education.  She currently serves on the SND National Education Office Advisory Board, the NDUEC Board of Directors and the Thomas More College MAT Advisory Board.

Dr. Koehl, committed to the mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame to proclaim God’s goodness and provident care, will bring her gifts and experience to serve wholeheartedly the community of Notre Dame Academy to educate young women to make a difference in the world.
