The symbolism of this quilt adds to its beauty.

Sr. Marge Mouch has been ministering at the formation house in Buseesa, Uganda for over a year. One of her passions is quilting, a craft she honed when ministering in Eastern Kentucky.

It turns out the young women in Uganda have a knack for quilting, too. After practice with purses and sample squares, each formee worked on a portion of a quilt that was then sewn together by a friend of Sr. Marge's in Eastern Kentucky...8,000 miles away.

The quilt symbolizes the unity, the sharing of traditions, the collaborations, and the meticulous but loving work that has taken place between the people of Buseesa and Kentucky since 1995.

The quilt, shown in these photos, will be raffled off at the 2019 Sisters of Notre Dame 4th of July Festival in Covington, KY. Chances are $1.00 each.

For those wondering what the formation house is, it is a site where young women who are interested in becoming a Sister of Notre Dame reside and discern their call while learning more about the SND congregation and charism. For those wondering what a charism is, it's a word used to describe the special spirit, mission, and identity of a religious order.
