The Education Summit sponsored by the SND National Education Office was aptly named because the time together - June 18-20, 2015 - really did represent a high point in the history of Notre Dame Education. The Summit was held at the University of Dayton. Over 150 teachers and administrators from many of our schools from the 4 U.S. Provinces, as well as our Notre Dame Schools in India, Tanzania, and Uganda were present to share the ND heritage and charism and to look toward its future full of hope.

Fr. James Heft, formerly a professor at the University of Dayton, and well known to many of the participants, gave an inspiring talk to launch our exploration of what constitutes educational excellence. A variety of breakout sessions demonstrated how this excellence is being carried out day-to-day in our schools. Meaningful discussions were carried on as Notre Dame educators explored various facets of keeping the Notre Dame educational spirit alive in today's diverse world. The final day consisted of two panels: alumnae from our schools and our international Sisters reflecting on what Notre Dame education means to them.

Truly the Summit was a coming together of the brightest and best in Notre Dame education. While it is not anticipated that the Summit will become an annual event, many of the participants expressed an interest in future gatherings of this nature.
