On April 26, 2014,  the Sisters and Associates of Notre Dame’s Covington Province celebrated with five women and two men who pronounced their covenant as Associates of Notre Dame.  Our newest Associates (pictured left to right) Adam Feinauer, Sherri Feinauer, JoAnn Nienaber-Chalfant, Rita Hargett, Stephanie Bricker, Jane Appelman, and Patrick Taney bring the number of SND Associates in the United States to 440.

In their covenant ceremony the Associates promised to live the S.N.D. charism, the goodness and provident care of God, through their spirituality and ministry.  They have already been spreading God’s goodness in numerous ways.  One makes rosaries and sent 1,300 to Brazil for World Youth Day; one works with the Respect Life Commission and New Evangelization.  Several teach in parish religious education programs and serve in other parish ministries.  Most importantly, these men and women desire to bring the loving face of our God to all they meet in their everyday lives.

These newest Associates represent the married, widowed and single states. They come from two dioceses and five parishes, and have chosen to join the Associate relationship for many reasons; most especially to deepen their spirituality.  For these seven new Associates, their living of the S.N.D. charism will be profound but look quite ordinary – as ordinary as an ever new Yes to God, whose goodness and provident care endures forever.

Membership in the S.N.D. Association is open to Christian women and men, single or married.  The formation program includes attending sessions with the whole group (every six weeks for a nine month period), meeting regularly with a companion to read and pray about the topics presented during the sessions, and making a covenant retreat.  This years formation program will begin in August.
