We are happy to announce that Sister Reinette Kroeger and Sister Lynette Shelton are the recipients of the 2018 William Cooper Faith and Community In Action Award. They were nominated and selected for their work at the Notre Dame Urban Education Center (NDUEC) in Covington, Kentucky.

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin presented the award to the sisters at the 52nd Governor's Prayer Breakfast, which took place on February 6, 2018 at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park. In attendance was First Lady Glenna Bevin and Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton.

Sister Reinette Kroeger and Sister Lynette Shelton founded NDUEC in 2009. Both sisters have a passion for education and served as principals for Catholic elementary and high schools. After they retired, they saw a need for families in the City of Covington and founded NDUEC to enrich the lives of inner-city children through education, cultural enrichment, and faith. Children in grades 1-8 come to the center to receive individualized tutoring, academic support, arts and cultural enrichment, and physical education. The center also hosts a Family Night once a month, providing the families of children attending NDUEC with information and life skills training.

We want to thank Sister Reinette and Sister Lynette for their continuous work and dedication to the Notre Dame Urban Education Center in Covington, Kentucky. Their works have enriched numerous children and their families.

The prestigious William Cooper Faith and Community in Action Award was established in 2009 in honor of the Reverend William Jefferson Cooper, Sr., of Westport, Kentucky. Mr. Cooper, a man of faith and vision, founded the Kentucky Governor's Prayer Breakfast. The recipient of this award embraces the heart of the Commonwealth, tirelessly working in service to others, leaving a lasting impact.
