Uganda Mission Updates

  • SECOND TERM: It has been a whirlwind experience at the mission. The Internet has been out, sisters returned from the United States, and students returned from holiday for the start of our second term. Term 2 goes from June 2 until September 2, 2016. Term 3 is from September 26-December 9, 2016.
  • PHONICS BOOKS: Notre Dame Elementary School in Chardon, Ohio has once again donated phonics books for the St. Julie Mission in Buseesa. We are so happy for their partnership and support of their peers in Uganda. Thank you to these kind and generous children! Now, we work to transport the books to Buseesa.
  • GOODIES: The four junior Ugandan sisters who visited the United States in May returned safely. They arrived with books, puzzles, and other fun, colorful educational items for the new nursery school in Buseesa.
  • FURNITURE: Speaking of the nursery school, photos of the furniture being built for the nursery children are below. Classroom story runners were being installed in each room. A bright welcoming sign was painted on the front gate. The new desks and bookshelves were installed. As Sr. Mary Paulynne Tubick, head teacher of St. Julie Primary School, said in email, "We are now READY for our lovely children! Thank you for your prayers and support! God reward YOU!"
  • PRAYER FOR RAIN: The sisters in Uganda wrote and asked that we please pray for rain in Buseesa.  It is very hot and dry and has not rained for several weeks.  On Monday, June 13, the sisters will have to trek to a protected spring for water.
