The Sisters of Notre Dame are missioned to proclaim God’s goodness and provident care, but we do not do it alone! Hundreds of individuals and organizations dedicate their prayers, their time, and various resources to share in carrying out Jesus’ mission near and far. Each month we pass the mic to one or more of our partners and shine the spotlight on their relationship with the Sisters of Notre Dame.

February 2015 Partner Spotlight: Donna Kramer (Alexandria, KY)

"My love for the Sisters of Notre Dame began as a small child.  The Sisters taught at St. John's grade school in Wilder, KY.  I had a brother or sister in just about every grade level when I attended the school. My family was very close to the Sisters.  My parents would always take fresh fruits and vegetables to the Sisters, after we were finished picking the produce on our farm.  Many times when the Sisters went for a walk on a Sunday afternoon, we would run outside and talk to them when they were passing our house.

After grade school, I attended Notre Dame Academy on Fifth Street in Covington. While in high school, I became an Aspirant with the Sisters and lived at the Heights. While residing with the Sisters, I experienced firsthand how they lived out God's goodness and provident care.  They truly cared for others as they lived in the community.

I left the convent as a Novice, but always remained very close to the Sisters.  I visited them often and looked forward to making the weekend retreats for women.

After my husband and I raised our eight children, I began my formation in the Associate program with the Sisters of Notre Dame. Sharing in their charism has deepened my faith and challenged me to find many opportunities for personal growth.

My family and I enjoy working the Fourth of July Festivals, as well as volunteering one Sunday a month in Lourdes Hall.  We spend the afternoon playing bingo with the Sisters, bringing special treats and goodies for them, celebrating special holidays, with our grandchildren dressing as ghosts and goblins on Halloween, and performing in a Christmas pageant during the holidays.  Our grandchildren have a great admiration for the Sisters.  It has been a great exposure for our children and grandchildren to see the kindness, love and humility exemplified among the Sisters.

As a result of my relationship and volunteering with the Sisters of Notre Dame, I feel like I am making strides to become a better person, as our Good and Provident God is guiding me along the path of life."
