Today is the day:  The day we’ve been anticipating for weeks – no, months!  In a few hours we are off to Columbus to meet with sisters from our three other USA provinces: Thousand Oaks, CA, Toledo, OH, and Chardon, OH.  This “Gathering” as we call it, is one of the major steps as we move forward to form one SND-USA province.  Most of the other steps have been “behind the scenes” with people from finance, healthcare, technology, etc., meeting.  Now it is our turn.

Everyone seems so excited, not just about the weekend, but about the whole venture.  I’m sure there are some who are quite fearful and afraid of what we might “lose," but there is so much that we already share. Of course, we don’t really know how all this is going to happen, but the session titles indicate that the core team has been listening to the sisters’ concerns and questions:

  • Becoming One for the Sake of Mission
  • Implications to Becoming One
  • Governance and Becoming One
  • Next Steps to Becoming One.

Behind our anticipation of learning more, is our excitement of meeting sister-friends from other provinces we have met on retreats, celebrations, renewals, and other gatherings.  Comments frequently heard include, “I hope Sister... is going to be there!”

The bus will depart in three hours and the excitement is already at high pitch.  God must be smiling at all of this.  We know it is in God’s hands and we are doing our best to make the job a little easier.
