Vocations

Have you ever considered dedicating your life to serving God and God's people?

Do you feel you have what it takes to be a Sisters of Notre Dame:
  • a longing for the Sacred
  • a positive attitude and outlook about life
  • a healthy body and strong mind
  • a desire to be of service
  • a willingness to grow?
Do I Have a Call?
"I think I may be called to religious life, but I don't know what to do about it…"

A vocation is God's unique invitation, addressed to individual persons in which a free response is expected. This response is not a single act, but a life-long process, a journey of faith. We do not "have" a vocation; we discover how we "are" our vocation as we journey through life led by the Spirit.

The Sisters of Notre Dame invite you to come and see religious life first hand. There are many opportunities for you to visit us. We invite you to visit us for a Day of Reflection, Come and See Weekend, Bible Study or join us for prayer or Mass. We would be happy to answer your questions. This summer we will sponsor a "Stretch Your Heart" week.

The 2009 "Stretch Your Heart"

Young women between the ages of 18 to 40, who are looking for a way to participate in outreach experience, should consider connecting with the Sisters of Notre Dame this summer. We will be hosting a "Stretch Your Heart" experience July 19 -24, 2009 in Dayton, Ohio working with Hispanic children and adults.

You will:
  • Participate in outreach programs helping persons in need
  • Experience the supportive community life of the Sisters
  • Enhance your skills for service
  • Reflect prayerfully on your experience
Application and reference forms must be completed two weeks prior to the event. Please contact Sister Jean Marie Hoffman for additional information, at 859-331-2040 or jhoffman@dcchome.org A "Stretch Your Heart" brochure will soon be available on this site.

Meet our postulant and temporary professed sisters who followed Jesus' call to come and journey with Him. We asked them to reflect on some questions.

Sister Debra Marie Wischmeyer
What brought you to Notre Dame?
While I was seeking information on different communities, I was getting frustrated that I could not find any information for convents closer to home. Our DRE asked if she could write to the Sisters of Notre Dame, as they taught our Vacation Bible School. On my first visit I knew immediately that this was the place for me.
Sister Mary Judine Lambert
How do you share the love of Jesus with others?
To share Jesus’ love, I try to remember that each person is made in the image and likeness of God and is of infinite worth. I try to treat others with dignity and respect, to be open and accepting of them, and to listen to and receive what they have to share, and to respond to their needs as best I can.
