Who is invited to be an Associate?
Christian women and men, married and single, are invited. Associates are called to share in the mission of Jesus Christ through the charism, spirituality, and ministry of the Sisters of Notre Dame by a non-vowed commitment.

How do Associates live out the Notre Dame charism through prayer and spirituality?
Most Associates participate in monthly faith sharing, attend Mass frequently, and attend an annual retreat. Many of Associates reflect on the Scriptures, do daily discernment, pray the rosary, attend exposition, and practice meditation.

Tina Bernheimer
Blessed Sacrament - Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky
Tina is married to Tom, and they live in Lakeside Park. She is very close to her nieces, nephews, and neighbor’s children. Tina was taught by the Sisters of Notre Dame at St. Martin’s, Cheviot, where she experienced much kindness and guidance. The Sisters have made a big difference in her life. Tina is retired from being an office manager and sales manager. Now she enjoys collecting antiques, gardening, and reading. Her sponsor is Sr. Carol Marie Klaine.
Karen Minshall
St. Mary - Alexandria, Kentucky
Karen is married to Steve, and they have one daughter, Andrea. Karen grew up in St. Agnes Parish, Ft. Wright and attended Notre Dame Academy, graduating in 1969. She is an artist, who was taught as a young girl by Sr. Mary Reina Arlinghaus (her sponsor), whom she now helps at Prince of Peace School. While still working part-time for Cincinnati Bell, Karen devotes time to volunteering in her parish and being a master gardener.
Beth Raum
St. John - Covington, Kentucky
Beth is single and raised her niece from birth. She has known the Sisters of Notre Dame for almost fifty years, beginning with grade school at St. John’s in Covington, where today she does volunteer work. Beth enjoys making cards and creating games. She shares the S.N.D. concern for God’s little ones, as shown through her twenty years of working with low-income families at Brighton Center. Her sponsor is Sr. Mary Bernard Clare Budde.
Mary Ann Robinson
St. Henry - Erlanger, Kentucky
Mary Ann is the mother of five children and enjoys being a grandmother
and great-grandmother. Now retired from her career as secretary/business manager at St. Henry, she does much volunteer work, including H.O.N.K. and Hosea House. Mary Ann has known the Sisters of Notre Dame since she was six, especially through Sr. Mary Florence Scheper, her aunt and sponsor. She also went to St. John School in Covington and N.D.A. (class of ’55).
Jane Sansalone
Bellarmine of Xavier - Cincinnati, Ohio
Jane is the mother of eight children and belongs to Bellarmine Chapel. Many years ago Jane worked in the Mission Office of the Diocese of Covington. She has championed the cause of children throughout the world by direct contact and through presentations. Her other interests are reading and taking courses at Xavier University. Jane has written two books, White Flak and The St. Nicholas Visit. Her sponsor is Sr. Mary Pat Kenney.
Mel Sonenschein
St. Boniface - Cincinnati, OH
Mel is single. She knows about the Sisters of Notre Dame through the Associates at her parish. Mel is semi-retired and active in her parish. She typifies the reason why many people desire to become am Associate: wanting to deepen her relationship with God and choosing to give back for all that God has given her. Mel loves cats, reading, and searching the web. Her sponsor is Sr. Mary Margaret Droege.
Linda Verst
St. Joseph Heights Chapel - Covington, KY
Linda is the mother of five adult children and often attends Mass St. Joseph Heights. Linda originally knew the Sisters of Notre Dame when she was a student at Thomas More College. She worked for many years in alcohol/drug education programs and now works in jail ministry. Some of her interests are drawing, painting, reading, music, teaching adult learners, and listening to NPR. Her sponsor is Sr. Mary Dennise Wagenlander.
